Inner Banks Scenic Parkway Presentations

Ron Toppin has proposed a great new transportation artery for the Inner Banks of North Carolina. His original proposal is shown on his campaign web site at http://www.rontoppin.com/inner_banks_hwy.htm.

You can see an updated proposal on the Task Force web site http://scenicparkway.blogspot.com

Inner Banks Scenic Parkway

A group of us are so excited by this proposal that we are taking on the task of communication of the concept to all of the county governments affected, and forming a group of eco-tourism interested parties to take over promotion of the idea to the NCDOT. This group is called the Inner Banks Scenic Parkway Task Force.

The schedule of presentations to county governments is as follows:

Tuesday - September 5th @ 9:00 AM - Hertford County
Tuesday - September 5th @ 6:00 PM - Washington County

Monday - September 11th @ 11:00 AM - Gates County
Monday - September 11th @ 3:00 PM – Beaufort County
Monday - September 11th @ 7:00 PM - Bertie County

Monday - September 18th @ 8:30 AM - Craven County
Monday - September 18th @ 7:30 PM - Pamlico County

Anyone who is interested in environmentally friendly development for the Inner Banks is invited to join us in this worthy cause.

War Bonds:
The Songs and Letters of World War II

War Bonds: The Songs & Letters of World War II will be presented Tuesday September 5th at 7:00 PM at Swain Auditorium in Edenton.

War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of World War II is a musical journey through a war that redefined the world. This living history cabaret is interspersed with personal letters from the Front and headline news of the period. The production is a warm reminiscence and a harrowing reminder of a time that is not unlike the present. The cabaret is created and performed by Serena Ebhardt and David zum Brunnen of EbzB Productions. Jane Lonon of the Ashe County Arts Council in North Carolina says, "War Bonds is a well crafted work by two of the best in the business. It leaves audiences with smiles and tears."

David zum Brunnen and Serena Ebhardt fill the stage with wartime memories and tunes. Actual veterans' stories create a sentimental journey back to the days when blackouts and rationing were a small sacrifice in order to obtain freedom.

A time when Rosie the riveter discovered she could take care of herself; a time when African-Americans, who were held down at home by Jim Crow, became war heroes overseas; and when a man's only wish was to be home for Christmas.

War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of World War II explores the dark side of war and the strange juxtaposition of the light hearted, popular tunes of the time.

Musical Director, Julie Florin recreates a nostalgic score of familiar tunes.

Twenty-two songs of the period lift the mood -- even as the atrocities of war are described. Old-timers will sing along and shed a few tears as time goes by. Younger audience members will enjoy a lesson in history that just might keep them from repeating the mistakes of the past or at least handle them with diplomacy and grace in the future.

EbzB Productions can be found on the web at www.EbzB.org. EbzB?s mission is to develop theatrical works that promote integrity, self-discovery and positive transformation of individuals, artists, audiences, and communities.

War Bonds: The Songs & Letters of World War II will be presented Tuesday September 5th at 7:00 PM at Swain Auditorium in Edenton. Tickets are $5. For more information contact The Chowan Arts Council at 252-483-8005
