Restoring Honor Rally Geese Flyover

There are times when things happen that cannot be dismissed as mere coincidence. Start with the fact that Glen Beck could not get approval for a flyover of military aircraft even though a major component of the rally was to honor military service by some magnificent soldiers.

As a great substitute the incredible canadian geese flyover at the Restoring Honor Rally is one of those amazing miracles that will stand for all time. At the exact moment of the start of the rally, a beautiful formation of canadian geese came over the world War II memorial, flew right down the middle of the reflecting pool and over the Lincoln Memorial, finishing as the music started to play to begin the event. It was spine tingling and amazing. The soldiers got their flyover. One that is unique.

A comment you hear again and again from those who were there, "It gave me chills!"

Restoring Honor - The Price For Our Freedom

by Sarah Palin - August 28th, 2010 - The Sarah Palin Blog

In distant lands across the globe, you’ll find silent fields of white markers with the names of Americans who never came home, but who showed their dedication to their country by where they died.

We honor those who served something greater than self and made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as those who served and did come home forever changed by the battlefield.

Though this rally is about “restoring honor,” for these men and women honor was never lost! If you look for the virtues that have sustained our country, you will find them in those who wear the uniform, who take the oath, who pay the price for our freedom.

Click on the title or here to read the important words of an important part of an important day in our nation's history.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation

The Restoring Honor Rally yesterday was conducted for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. With hundreds of thousands in attendance, it was estimated that the total contributions approached $5 million for the event. It was a very expensive event to produce. Beck said about $3.5 million. So it probably netted around $1.5 million for the children of our special forces who have given their lives for our nation. SOWF supports all of our services, uniformed and clandestine.

The event may be over, but the sacrifices made for our country continue. We are still at war with forces arrayed against our nation all over the world.

Restoring Honor Rally
Draws Close To Half Million

The crowd around the reflecting pool for the original Martin Luther King Rally in 1963 was estimated at 200,000. In comparing pictures with today's event, it was noticeably less packed than the Restoring Honor Rally. I would suspect the 200,000 was pretty accurate, and that between 250,000 and 300,000 were around the reflecting pool today.

In addition, as you can see in this picture, the area to the left of the reflecting pool had an even larger crowd than around the reflecting pool. In 1963 fewer were in that area because they could not see or hear. Look closely and you can see huge throngs are also gathered throughout the trees going all the way to the lake on the right.

NBC News, an organization that has been consistently hostile to Glen Beck, the oragnizer, estimated the crowd at 300,000. That probably means they think it exceeded 600,000. At least they were within an order of magnitude of the real crowd size. The Associated Press said the crowd was in the tens of thousands, "comparable" with the 3,000 that showed up for the Al Sharpton rally to denounce the Restoring Honor attendees.

Tens of thousands? "Comparable" to 3 thousand? Yeah. Right.

Thanks to Garry Terry for these pictures from the Restoring Honor Rally.

"There is sobbing of the strong,
And a pall upon the land;
But the People in their weeping
Bare the iron hand;
Beware the People weeping
When they bare the iron hand."

-- Herman Melville, "The Martyr," upon the death of Abraham Lincoln.

This day, August 28th, 2010, we honor those who have proven by their actions that they are worthy of honor. We bestow this honor on others by gathering at the monument to one man that nearly all agree is an American of honor. "With malice toward none, with charity for all..."

Not how our nation is acting right now, is it?

It appears that few on either side can stop the hostility so similar to that which resulted in "iron hand" retribution against the South. It has long been noted that the death of Lincoln changed the course of our nation. Many have wondered what might have happened if the forgiving nature of Lincoln had guided our nation in the aftermath of that horrible conflict.

I cannot help but wonder if the hate being spewed by the media at anyone who does not embrace Obama is not part and parcel of that inability to forgive anyone who disagrees with the 'ruling class'. Why must humans in power always seek someone to blame? The current confrontation comes from the same disagreement, the way in which some view the flaw of slavery. It appears that all of America is now being punished for that minority of Americans who accepted slavery. A heart that cannot forgive is an evil heart. Will we ever come together as Lincoln dreamed?

God Bless America... pray for her.

Chowan County Regional Fair . . .
An Edenton Friday Night!

The Chowan County Fair is coming on 9/28. This is coverage from a couple of years ago, before I got distracted by politics.

**********

I love going to the fair. I can still remember when I was really young the time I won a dog at the fair. Even though my parents would not let me keep it, I never ever forgot the feeling that sometimes you get lucky and win! It is a feeling we all enjoy. Dreams. Fairs bring that back. You can take a chance on a game, take a ride on a ferris wheel, see animals up close, participate in a contest, win a ribbon, see others fulfilling dreams, remember your own dreams. There is nothing else like it.

Friday night I headed out to the Chowan County Regional Fair in Edenton. It is the biggest one in this area and always fun. Turning off the road leading into Edenton I followed the signs until I got to the entrance. After parking, I found the ticket stand, bought my tickets and headed on in.

One of the first exhibits was the Chain Saw Sculpture exhibit with the artist actively cutting another sculpture from wood.

This year the entrance led through the exhibit hall, where lots of businesses and organizations tried to separate you from some money, or at least get your attention. At this exhibit three local realtors, Lori Snell, Becky Wilder and Lois Byrum (shown below) were ready to help anyone needing either a house or a business location.

Exiting the exhibit hall led you into the midway area, with rides and concession stands for food and nick knacks.

I also never fail to take a quick tour through the live stock sections and buildings to see all the animals. When growing up on the farm, we had most of them at one time or another.

I couldn't miss taking a few minutes to stop by and see my friends Brenda and E.C. Toppin (shown below) in the fair office. E.C. and Brenda are two of the people who help to organize and put this fair on each year. E.C. is also the brother of Ron Toppin, a man I spent a lot of time with last year during the political campaigns, and whenever we went through Edenton we usually stopped by to see E.C. and say "hi". This night E.C. and Brenda were just starting a dinner of some great smelling ribs.

It was getting darker outside and while in the office to see E.C. I met a couple of the security people who were trying to find the parents of a young man who was lost. As I got back out on the midway I stopped by to get a picture of some of the other security people who work to keep us safe. Thank you!

I always like to stay at the fair until after it gets dark. Somehow it becomes like a different place at night. The lights are simply beautiful. The rides which are exciting during the day become like dreamland at night. To me it is two separate experiences for one price. What a bargain.

On the way out of the fair I ran in to E.C. again (shown below) down at the Veterans Booth near the exit. As you can see from the second picture below, the people were still pouring in to the fair even at near 9:00 PM when I was leaving.

The sign at the exit says "Thank you for visiting the Chowan County Regional Fair. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR !"

Yes you will.

Nathan Tabor, Innocent
- Democrat Attacker, Convicted

by Randy Dye - August 26, 2010 - Randy's Right

The un-provoked attack by a radical Democrat against Tea Party attendee, Jordan Tabor, is typical of the way things are handled by the Main Stream Media. It was reported that both Jordan's husband, Nathan, and the man who attacked Jordan - were charged with assault. It will not be reported that Nathan was found innocent since he was defending his wife and the attacker was found guilty of an unprovoked assault. Check out the video from WXII Channel 12 included on the web posting. As is typical in our joke for a court system, the attacker was given no jail time.

Political Contributors

An interesting list of top political contributors hit the Internet today. Of the top 10 industries giving money to our corrupt legislators, only 1 top recipient is a Republican. Here is the list, for what it is worth. Note that Democrats, who claim Republicans are the beneficiaries of business giving, are universally the top % beneficiaries in industry after industry. That is the meaning of the new term 'crony capitalist'. We no longer have free enterprise. We have bribe enterprise.

Think these contributions are not bribes? Take a look at securities. Even with the total hostility of Obama and the Democrats, the "Securities and Investment" category has only dropped from giving 75% to Democrats down to giving 66% to Democrats. The next time someone tells you Wall Street is in bed with Republicans, ask them why Wall Street overwhelmingly gives to Democrats, and has for the last 40 years.

Inner Banks Humor - Marriage

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat, making beer. Always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point.

When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway."

The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Democrats Lie

The newest campaign being conducted by Democrats is to lie about the cost of the Iraq war. As more and more citizens get angry at the outrageous expenditures by the Obama administration and the Democrat Congress, Democrats have started repeating the LIE that the real problem is the Iraq war. They claim the cost of the Iraq war is $3 trillion and it is all Bush's fault. They then go on to say that war spending is the majority of the increase in the national debt too. Since the increase in debt is over $7 trillion not even their exaggerated lies about the costs are true. However the $3 trillion is a total LIE to begin with.

The CBO has calculated that the Iraq war since it began has cost us $709 billion as of the end of the last quarter. Not even close to the $3 trillion the Democrats claim. Below is a chart that shows the actual costs of the war since 2003 with estimates through the end of 2010.

Click on the title above to read the article - which includes a great summary of costs to compare with the war at the end. My favorite is "Iraq War spending accounted for just 3.2% of all federal spending while it lasted." Note how deficits soared since 2008. That is Obama 'fundamental transformation'! Not as the Democrats love to call it, 'Bush's War'.

L.A. Leftists Get
The Code Pink Treatment

... at Jodie Evans’ Jerry Brown Fundraiser

by Kristinn Taylor and Andrea Shea King - August 22nd, 2010 - Big Peace

Melanie Morgan, founder of Move America Forward, the nation’s largest pro-troop organization, led about a dozen conservative activists who protested at the Venice home of Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans at a Saturday afternoon fundraiser for California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown.

Morgan reports the pro-American protesters, “blocked the entrance of hundreds of wealthy Democrat liberals, including Sally Kellerman and Cindy Asner, ex-wife of Ed Asner.” Protesters laid down on the sidewalk outside the entrance gate where guests had to step over them.

Event host Jodie Evans was visibly angry at getting a taste of her own medicine and had several confrontations, including one in which she denied, against the evidence, that she supports the terrorist organization Hamas. Several guests were none-too-pleased with being protested, while some had no idea they were attending an event associated with Code Pink.

I really admire Andrew Brietbart. He has mastered the techniques of the extreme radical left. He uses these techniques to both send them in a rage and expose their hypocrisy at the same time. This article is from his new web site "Big Peace", a take off on the anti-American left's constant reference to Big Business. It is a great example of the strategy.

I have not been able to do it quite as successfully but I am having some fun with my own site pest. I have found it quite easy to get him wound up and in a rage but just showing his ignorance does not do the left the damage that Andrew accomplishes with his more subtle campaigns. I will have to study Andrew's techniques and see if I can come up with a better strategy than just tweaking the left's anger button. Fun, but not nearly as cool.

After having been spit on by these code pink scum while campaigning for Arnold Schwarzenegger, reading this article was truly satisfying. I can just imagine their rage at being the target of their own techniques, used with a little more class than they ever display. Go get them Andrew!

Inner Banks Patriotism

As much as I disagreed with George W. Bush over his waste of money on big government boondoggles and his lack of fiscal discipline, I never worried about the ultimate success in the war against the Islamo fascists when he was President. Though his use of the "war on terror" label was something of a joke, he seriously sought to make sure that our nation was safe and our troops were fighting for defense of our nation and to protect our freedoms. He appreciated their sacrifice.

I am not surprised that we see no pictures like this of President Obama and Queen Michelle, welcoming our troops home from a job well done. I do not believe either is a patriot who loves America.

The sincerity of George and Laura's smiles in these pictures says everything you need to say about the good things this man stands for. He is a patriot. I love the recent T-sirts, "Do you miss me yet?" I must admit, even with his flaws, I do.

Inner Banks Humor - Obama

I have had a couple of people contest my calling Barack Obama's mother an atheist. In contrast to her own comments that she was an atheist, in her official papers she sometimes called herself a Unitarian. It was therefore with some mirth that I ran across the following quote on Unitarians.

"Unitarians are often jokingly referred to by those who do believe in a divine authority as a collection of political activists who can't quite bring themselves to profess open atheism and who are thus hedging their bets by belonging to what they call a church."

76 Days Until Election Day

It was reported today that 72 U.S. House seats currently held by Democrats are within reach of a Republican takeover, either leaning Republican or Leaning Democrat within the margin of error of the poll. The Cook Political Report is convinced that Republicans are unlikely to win more than 35 of these seats. When pushed they say... well maybe 45.. but that is the max. What do you think?

Obama Is A Victim Of Bush's Failed Promises

by Chuck Green - February 7th, 2010 - Aurora Sentinel

It’s all George Bush’s fault.

George Bush, who doesn’t have a vote in Congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all.

He broke Obama’s promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama’s promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama’s promise to end earmarks.

He broke Obama’s promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama’s promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year...

The list goes on and on and on. This article is meant as criticism, not humor, but it sure is funny. I know that sarcasm as humor is rarely acceptable humor to both sides, but if you are the least bit conservative, this will start your day with a smile!

Inner Banks Humor - Obama

Still funny?

This picture reminds me of something that got little press during the campaign. In a March 6, 2007 puff piece by Nicholas D. Kristof in the New York Times, titled "Obama: Man of the World", Barack Obama was quoted as saying two things of extreme interest. “I was a little Jakarta street kid,” Obama said and he described the Muslim call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth... "

"The New Yorker" has slavishly supported Obama from the beginning and this picture was intended to mock those who doubted Obama. Now that we have heard him repeatedly praise Islam in speech after speech, on foreign soil as well as right here in America (most recently taking the side of the radical Imam who wants to build a monument to Islamic glory over Ground Zero) it is becoming clear - the doubters were pretty accurate.

The Little Flag

by Harvey West, Jr. - August 16th, 2010

This may or may not be of concern to anyone, but something small happened to me today that has affected me in a big way and like I said, it may be insignificant some, but I would like to share the experience.

At about 3:00 this afternoon, I decided to go down to the local truck stop to get cup of coffee. On my way to the store I saw a small American Flag lying in the middle of the road. I pulled over into the center turn lane and proceeded to retrieve the flag of my country. I had to wait for traffic to pass before I could step out into the travel lane to retrieve it. I waited and I waited and I waited for traffic to pass.

I counted 40 cars, trucks, and eighteen wheelers pass by and not one of them made any attempt to stop, slow down of even move over into the other travel lane so I could retrieve our little flag. About a dozen vehicles or so even ran the flag over. One driver did make an attempt to straddle the little flag so as to not run his tires across it.
Eventually, I did manage to walk out into the travel lane and pick up our little 11” x 16’’ flag from the pavement.

I don’t know how long the little flag was there in the middle of the road. I do know that it wasn’t there 2 hours before when I returned from lunch. I do know that not 1 person in 40 made any attempt to assist in saving our flag from such a disgraceful position. Not 1 person in 40 cared enough to show any respect the our Nations most cherished symbol.

What have we become in this country. I forefathers gave their lives for that flag and we leave it lying in the road like road kill. Our Nation’s flag has been a symbol of hope for so many people, both here and abroad, but today on a little stretch of US Hwy 64 just west of Plymouth NC our flag was, for some people, trash in the road way.

As we repeatedly see people in all places of the world, including right here in America, burn, stomp, mutilate and deface our flag, it slowly loses its prestige and respect even in the mind of patriots. That is sad. Thanks Harvey. I appreciate what you did and what you wrote.

If you forecast current job growth out into the future, unemplyment will be back down to the average level during the Bush administration in 2017. That assumes of course that we do not experience a new dip in the coming months.

Along with the statistic above it should be noted that the Obama recession is already the slowest recovery since World War II. Think Obama will ever figure out it is due to his incompetent economic plans?

"Michelle Obama's Spanish vacation draws critics"

by Peter Nicholas and Katherine Skiba - August 6th, 2010 - Tribune Washington Bureau (Los Angeles Times)

I don't really need to include any of the actual article for this to be funny. The title is enough. Our self appointed royalty, Queen Michelle and Princess Sasha are spending our tax dollars overseas, obvioulsy merely to mock all those rich folks that they constantly criticize for doing the same. They are in Spain on an oppulent vaction, carrying along a large number of friends as guests of the Queen and Princess, running the price tag near a half million dollars.

Luckily they were able to score a lucheon with King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia at their summer palace on the Island of Majorca, which assured the American Royals could stick the American tax payer with most of the tab for this overseas boondoggle. One week of vacation. One dinner of chitchat with royalty. Seems about right to call this official. Glad they could find so much time to 'work'. Dining with foreign royalty is obviously something that makes a trip 'official' (as opposed to merely insulting to America that they can find no place in our nation that they would deem acceptable to visit). Still you cannot think that eating with royalty will ever be 'grueling' (pun intended). When you think of yourself as royalty you can't just dine with anyone, now can you? Where would they find royalty of equal standing in America?

This is the luxury hotel where the Queen Michelle party is living while vacationing in Spain. It is one of the fanciest in the world. Click here for Daily Mail article detailing the costs of the entourage taken to Spain and other pictures of their stay.

Such a shame Queen Michelle doesn't enjoy hiking in America's national parks the way Laura Bush did on her once a year vacations. Of course Democrats denounced that. The same ones who are defending the Queen Michelle extravagance as totally justified for a 'private person' who just needs some time away - for the seventh time in two years.

In anticipation of being worn out from all the 'work' on her Spanish vacation, Queen Michelle has planned to rest in a couple of weeks on Martha's Vineyard, a private and exclusive Island off the coast of Massachusettes. That will make eight vacations in two years. Nice 'work' if you can get it.
