Civil War Living History

The Museum of the Albemarle had a special event Saturday called, Remember the Battle of Elizabeth City. A part of Civil War Living History Day, it included a number of civil war re-enactors representing both the Confederate and Union Forces.



The main booth in the lobby was staffed by some very knowledgeable experts on Civil War munitions, these included (from the right) Walter White, Mark Miller, Bob Campbell and Jim Mayo.


Some of their examples of Civil War Munitions are shown below.







Outside, there were emcampments for both Confederate Troops (below) and Union Troops (second picture below)






In addition there was an exhibit showing how bullets and munitions were made between battles.




It was an excellent and fascinating exhibit of a time in our history that still fascinates many in our nation.

The Museum of the Albemarle is a great place to spend a day learning about our area. Their regular exhibits are as spectacular as this one day historical event.
