Carpenter’s Tools
- Challenging Times

Article by Pastor Wallace Phillips

I think you would agree with me that these times are indeed challenging to say the least. It seems the news on the tube is always bad news – jobs lost, stocks dropped, damage done, and the list goes on. I think we are being positioned for that coming leader who will arise to announce “peace” to those who are left after the church is raptured or “caught away”.

Rapture? What is that? That’s why you that have placed your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ (for those of you that have). Paul told Timothy that “the Lord Himself would descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and the trump of God, and the dead in Christ would rise first; then we, which are alive and remain, would be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (I Thess. 4:16,17). He talked of that awesome event that would take believers away from the earth into the presence of God. He concluded with this – “wherefore, comfort ye one another with these words.”

That should bring you hope. That should give you a reminder that even though the events of this present age are challenging, you and I who place our faith in Jesus Christ will be taken away just prior to the terrible time on earth called The Tribulation.

During this time of tribulation mankind will be faced with a leader who will emerge. He is Antichrist. The scripture speaks of him in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5 – “ Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”

Challenging times? You bet. But you and I have a way of escape from all this that is to come. His name if Jesus. If you don’t know Him, I would encourage you to find Him today. He has a tremendous family of believers dispatched on this earth. They are CHRISTIANS. Any one of them should be able to lead you to faith in Christ for salvation. This will prepare you for the future and for eternity.

If you have a hard time finding someone to share this blessed hope with you, call us at (252) 332-6113.

Have a great day, even in the midst of challenging times.
