Inner Banks Philosophy
BP has agreed to give Obama and his appointee, Kenneth Feinberg, $20 billion. This money is separate from and independent of BP's obligations under the laws of our nation. Not a penny can be counted as part of what BP legally owes. It is over and above legal debts. It was extorted from BP by blackmail. No matter how reprehensible BP's conduct, this act is frightening.
"... no person . . . shall . . . be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law" - except by the decision of a person as wise and capable as Kenneth Feinberg.
That last phrase is Michael Barone's suggestion of what Barack Hussein Obama sees as the new version of our Constitution in the Chicago dominated thugocracy known as the United States of Obama. How safe is anyone in a nation which can commit such extortion without consequence?
Update: It was originally reported that the agreement with BP would not allow them to count distributions from this fund as a part of their legal obligations. However Feinberg claims in public statements that you cannot accept distributions from the fund without giving up your right to sue. These two positions do not seem consistent. I guess over time we will find out what is really true, but the usual lack of transparency and secretiveness of the Obama regime does not currently allow me to believe the second position is the correct one.
