Reverend Boudreaux was the part-time pastor of the local Cajun Baptist Church and Pastor Thibodaux was the minister of the Covenant Church across the road. They were both standing by the road, pounding a sign into the ground, that read:

'Da End is Near
Turn Yo Sef 'Roun Now
Afore It Be Too Late!'

As a car sped past them, the driver leaned out his window and yelled, 'You religious nuts!'

From the curve they heard screeching tires, and a big splash...

Boudreaux turns to Thibodaux and asks, 'Do ya tink maybe da sign should jussay.....'Bridge Out?'

Comedy Central Press Release

Comedy Central has credentialed 300 journalists, commissioned 500 portable toilets, and received permits for 60,000 attendees on the National Mall [for their event Saturday], though the turnout could be much higher. "We've been talking about upward of 400 million or so," says spokesman Steve Albani.

Talk about setting expectations high!!! That is roughly 90 million more than the entire population of America.

So -- The black guy (who won his primary) is asked to step aside by by the former white President (who was called a racist by the President who he is supposedly helping), in order that the white guy (who lost his primary) can have a better chance of beating the Hispanic guy (who won his primary). Did Obama really think that Clinton would help him save the Senate? Of course this was leaked by Clinton supporters so that the blowback would harm Obama. Blacks and Hispanics are both outraged. Clinton was just the messenger so it doesn't come back on him.

People need to remember that Bill Clinton is still the master of political chicanery. Obama should note that twice he has asked for Clinton's assistance, Clinton has failed twice, it has been leaked twice and Obama is the one hurt both times. Newt Gingrich learned the same lesson. Playing politics with Clinton is not a game for amateurs. And Obama is an amateur.

If you are going to sculpt your own Halloween pumpkin, the first decision you have to make is whether you are going the traditional simple route, or whether you are going to try and create a work of art, like these two pumplin examples by Ray Villafane. Villafane says that most of his masterpieces only take a couple of hours, however the bottom one, called 'Zipper Head' took him an entire day.

This is an interesting reader comment about Obama's 67% disapproval rating in the most recent Harris poll.

"If you voted for Obama to prove you weren't a racist, who will you vote for to prove you aren't stupid?"

Within an hour I saw the comment repeated on two other threads. I guess I am not alone in being amused by it.

$200 Billion in Ads, Mr. Biden? That’s Real Money

by Michael D. Shear - October 22nd, 2010 - The Caucus

Conservative groups have not dumped $200 billion in political ads on the heads of Democratic candidates.

It evidently just feels that way to the White House.

Joe Biden cannot ever get things right. Ever! Which is why he twice got the number wrong, once after having had the error pointed out to him. Did Obama choose him as Vice President thinking no one would want him impeached with 'screw it up' Joe as next in line?

Inner Banks Philosophy

“To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.”

-- Thomas Jefferson

What else is the Public Broadcasting System, with its NPR outlet, except the process by which progressives tax conservatives to propagate left wing ideology. Is there any argument other than whether conservatives abhor these beliefs? America today is more tyrannical and sinful than the majority of nations on earth. Who would have ever believed when we were growing up that this nation would come to this point?

Where Do People Really Stand?

by Dean Stephens - October 22nd, 2010

I have been intrigued for some time with the confusion that permeates any discussion of politics. It started for me when Karl Rove and George Bush touted their 'compassionate conservative' ideology and so many social conservatives jumped on the bandwagon without any real understanding of the true meaning. There is little that is 'conservative' about the ideology so why were these people who believed they were conservative so willing to adopt it? In foreign relations the 'compassionate conservative' ideology is mostly neo-conservative, a broad spectrum belief that is left of center in practice under an argument that this best serves a right of center goal. In domestic relations the 'compassionate conservative' ideology is essentially left of center progressive, or at least sufficiently left of center to be called neo-progressive.

The 'compassionate conservative' ideology (used as an example) helps to explain the complexity of all political terms. The terms we use to describe the various political identities are not single dimension. In truth every ideology has two components that are associated with it. 1. Domestic issues and the relationship of the ideology to those issues. 2. Foreign issues and the relationship of the ideology to those issues.

There is a secondary component to the description which is determined by how broadly an ideology stretches along the dimension. Some are narrowly focused. Some are not.

'Compassionate conservative' also provides another insight. No matter how close two ideologies are on one of the dimensions, being incompatible on the other causes outrage by those who share beliefs on the compatible dimension. That is why progressives absolutely hated 'compassionate conservative' George Bush even though he was proposing domestic programs that they were in favor of. They felt he was stealing from them. That created more anger than if he had been less in agreement on domestic issues. They totally rejected his neo-conservative agenda on foreign relations and that rejection was amplified on domestic relations. He was thus given nothing but contempt for his efforts even where they were in agreement. They doubted his sincerity and considered his efforts intolerable as a result.

The most important aspect of the DOMESTIC RELATIONS dimension is its relationship between government power - statism, and individual liberty - freedom. This is a grid that shows the major political philosophies along that dimension, with statism on the left and freedom on the right.

The most important aspect of the FOREIGN RELATIONS dimension is its relationship between international power - globalism, and national power - patriotism. This is a grid that shows the major political philosophies along that dimension, with globalism on the left and patriotism on the right. There is one major anomaly on this dimension called anarchist. Anarchists could be placed at either end of the spectrum, or even left off. Anarchists reject both globalism and patriotism.

At the bottom of both charts I have indicated the generally accepted ideologies within the two major parties in America, Democrats and Republicans. In the middle there is a gap, indicating where unidentified voters tend to be centered. However there are a number of people who identify generally with one or more ideologies further removed from the center who reject either party label. Unidentified voters stretch from generally progressive to generally conservative, though a small percentage of libertarians and socialists avoid both parties too. The extremes of communism and anarchism also tend not to identify with either party. As a result - these scattered independents from so many different ideologies - the unidentified (or independents as they are sometimes called) are the most diverse group in politics.

It is my belief that this failure of 'unidentified voters' to accept the party they are closest to is based on problems with self identification which we all have a problem with. Most people don't really know what ideology they identify with - or what the ideologies mean either. I discovered this enlightenment a few years back when a republican leader brought a test to a meeting I was speaking at. The test involved each person answering a serious of questions and the results would tell where each fell on the generally accepted grid of political ideologies. Motivated by a desire to tailor my message, I went around and talked with a number of people about where they fell and where they had thought they fell before they took the test.

The results were astonishing. People who thought they were hard core conservatives rated as progressives. A couple even rated as socialists (truly surprising in a Republican group). A number of self identified moderates rated as libertarians and conservatives. A number of conservatives rated as libertarians and moderates. One libertarian rated as a moderate. Only about a third of the audience had come close to predicting how they rated on the test.

Since that night I have been reading a number of books on this subject and it has become more and more obvious that the theme of the test is right. Most people have political beliefs that are far more diverse than any single ideology. Their self identification is usually based on a single issue associated with a single ideology, and thus serves little purpose in classifying them. It rarely is an accurate identification overall.

However the two charts provide a lot of guidance if you understand the ideologies and can rate someone fairly close along the grid. Being exact is not necessary to learn a lot about them. What they say about themselves is not important either unless they are more knowledgeable than most about this entire topic.

Here are some examples of politicians who most people know pretty well and where I would place them on the grids above.

Ronald Reagan
Domestic Relations - Conservative - Foreign Relations - Libertarian

Bill Clinton

Domestic Relations - Populist - Foreign Relations - Progressive

George W. Bush

Domestic Relations - Progressive - Foreign Relations - Libertarian

Barack Obama

Domestic Relations - Progressive - Foreign Relations - Socialist

John McCain

Domestic Relations - Populist - Foreign Relations - Libertarian

Olympia Snowe
Domestic Relations - Populist - Foreign Relations - Conservative

Sarah Palin

Domestic Relations - Libertarian - Foreign Relations - Libertarian

Bill O'Reilly

Domestic Relations - Populist - Foreign Relations - Populist

For perspective on my choices, here is where I rate myself:
Domestic Relations - Libertarian - Foreign Relations - Conservative

It is a useful exercise to think about where you belong on each grid. What I think you will find is that all of us tend to move about from year to year and where you rate next year will be different than today. That is another enlightenment I have gotten out of this ongoing exercise. No one's beliefs are stable unless they have stopped growing and learning.

You know that anyone who sees a pothole this deep will slam on the brakes. Is that really the safest way for our transportation departments to slow traffic down?

They seem to think so.

[A comment for my site pest - This is not supposed to be news. Jokes do not have to be true. Duh! This "joke" mocks the stupidity of transportation department speed bumps which damage cars and serve little value in safety. I had not thought about it but it also mocks progressives who fail to get the joke. Thank you for your comments proving that! Your rantings provide an unending source of amusement.]

You cannot strengthen the weak

You cannot bring about prosperity

Inner Banks - Politics

President Obama, with a coarse voice, warned a crowd in Ohio: "They're fighting back. The empire is striking back."

I am certainly glad that Obama has given up insulting Republicans with phrases like "nazi", "pigs", "bankrolled by foreign interests", "clinging to religion" and insisting Republicans "take pride in being ignorant". He constantly uses straw men to lie about Republican beliefs and in the next breath demands Republicans raise the level of civility.

To show us the way to a civil discourse Obama has raised his own use of insults to simply imply that Republicans represent an "evil empire". I guess he thinks this is less insulting. I assure him, we don't need his advise or lies any more than we need his insults.

History In Windsor

The last time we know that Bertie County had a campaign headquarters for the Republican Party was "shortly after the Civil War", back in the 1800s, when Republicans dominated Bertie County politics. As my mother Nancy Adams noted (front right, red coat, holding the ribbon in the pictures below), that is almost 50 years before she was born. Mom is proud of the fact that she is approaching 90. 140 years is a long time.

Since the 1890s, Republicans have not even had any elected officials here. We are, as anyone will tell you, a Democrat stronghold. One person who plans to change that is Timothy Johnson, Chairman of the Frederick Douglas Foundation, and Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. I would not bet against him. His personal motto is "Agitate, agitate, agitate." He is a fun guy to be around.

Timothy and his wife, Latessa, drove a long distance to assure that they were a part of the Grand Opening of the Bertie County Republican Headquarters buidling yesterday. Timothy served as the honored official who cut the ribbon for the historic ceremony.

Local candidates Harvey Ginn, Rich Halbert and Matthew Peeler were present for the ceremony, along with Garry Terry, Chairman of the Bertie County Republcan Party. The rest of the crowd are a number of local Republicans excited about the occassion. Everyone wanted to meet the well liked Vice Chairman and welcome him back to our county. He is becoming a regular here in his efforts to spread the word of both the Republican Party and the Frederick Douglas Foundation.

Jobless Claims, Inflation,
Trade Deficit - Each Surge Higher

by Staff - October 14th, 2010 - Reuters

New U.S. claims for jobless benefits rose last week, hardening the view the central bank will pump more money into the economy, and keeping pressure on Democrats poised to lose congressional seats in Nov. 2 polls.

At the same time, record-high imports from China helped push the U.S. trade deficit wider in August, while rising food and energy prices pushed inflation at the wholesale level up twice as fast as expected last month.

Twice as fast as WHO expected? Responsible economists have said repeatedly that Bernanke cannot continue to flood our nation with money to keep spending propped up without at some point initiating a huge surge in inflation.

Is this the start of the predicted surge? Even if Bernanke manages to keep it under control for a while with a careful balancing act, the rampant inflation of the Carter years is coming soon to a store near you.

Man Streaks In Front Of Obama

... for $1 Million

by Daniel Halper - October 19th, 2010 - The Weekly Standard

If billionaire Alki David is an honest man, the man who streaked in front of Barack Obama at the president’s rally today in Philadelphia will be paid $1 million for his stunt. The man who performed today’s stunt, which captured the attention of the Drudge Report and an Associated Press photographer, is 24-year-old Juan James Rodriguez, THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned.

David is a billionaire shipping and bottling magnate who is known to carry out stunts, mainly by paying others to perform them. As The Sun reported on August 17: "A WACKY billionaire has offered $1million (£638,700) to the first person who streaks in front of US President Barack Obama. Loaded Alki David has promised to pay out the cash — providing the streaker writes the name of his website 'Battlecam' across their chest."

It is clearly true that our world is getting wonkier and wonkier. Of course it is arguable that Obama has been conducting acts not significantly less bizarre every time he trots out his teleprompter and starts insulting his enemies with lies so obvious that an idiot could see through them.

I just can't wait for the next Obama speech to see who "streaks" that one! I vote for a tall blonde with a great figure since that is the kind of woman I have always been attracted to. Maybe we should start a contest and the winner gets to streak the event with a head start on the cops!

One Nation Rally Trashes Mall

Blogger "Marooned in Marin" has consolidated pictures (from numerous sources) of trash left all over Washington by the attendees of the "One Nation" rally. The "Restoring Honor" attendees left Washington immaculate. Great job pointing out the difference in the class shown by the people involved in the two events!

Below the "trash" pictures on the blog are a number of pictures proving that the attendees (all of them Obama supporters) are strong supporters of socialism and communism as well. Why then do they go ballistic when someone on the right claims they are supporters of socialism and communism. They say it proudly, then become outraged if we agree. Does that make sense?

Click here or on title above to see the complete set of photos.

Crowd Size Comparison

The One Nation rally sponsors are adamant that their event was equal to or bigger than the recent Restoring Honor rally of Glen Beck. You be the judge.

Liberal One Nation Rally - October 2nd, 2010

Conservative Restoring Honor Rally - August 28th, 2010

The pitiful crowd size at the One Nation rally may be the reason that C-Span actually used film from the 8/28 rally and tried to pass it off as part of the 10/2 rally. They are after all liberal journalists and have a different set of journalistic ethics.
